ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE LESSONS in Vienna, Austria

The Alexander Technique should be studied in the atmosphere of a tea-party - a pleasureful, easy-going, and creative exchange of information. (F.M.Alexander)

I offer you competent and committed tuition in the Alexander Technique in my private practice in Vienna's fourth district

The Alexander Technique is all about learning to release superfluous tensions in both your body and mind so that you can move through life with more grace and ease.

On a mental level the Technique teaches you to see that you have choices about how you live your everyday life on all levels. You can learn to cast off old, effortful habits and make way for easefulness instead.

On a physical level it encourages lengthening of the spine, ease of breathing, greater lightness in bodily movement, and altogether more health and happiness.

For those who do not already know the Technique I offer an introductory session to help you decide if you want to continue.

In the course of on-going lessons you will amongst other things:

In every lesson there is time for reflection and discussion.

Developed by the Australian actor Frederick Matthias Alexander about 100 years ago, the Alexander Technique has long had an established place in performing arts training and complementary medicine.

The Technique has helped millions of people to overcome back, neck and joint pain, breathing and vocal problems, problems related to poor posture, as well as anxiety and stress-related conditions. (Benefits)

It is taught through a mixture of gentle hands-on guidance and verbal coaching.

No previous experience is necessary. Everyone can benefit from the Technique, irrespective of age and state of health.

In my teaching I combine everyday applications of the Technique with opportunities for self-exploration. And I also value humour in the process!

I invite you to ask questions, be curious about yourself and notice your own process of change. A diary can be very helpful here.

You can of course stop lessons any time you wish. And of course you can always come back again with any questions, discoveries and concerns. How far you take it is entirely up to you.

In common with most Alexander teachers, I usually work on a one-to-one basis. This means I can give you my undivided attention and focus on your particular concerns. However, I do also run workshops for small groups. These are particularly useful as an introduction to the Technique.

Lessons last about 45 minutes. I recommend a frequency of about once a week. Even after only a few lessons you will notice the benefits. A course of 20-30 lessons is usually sufficient for most people to learn the basics of the Alexander Technique and to apply them to their everyday lives.
